Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology creates wide soundscapes, turning the four speaker units into 12 phantom speakers. Together they create an optimised sound field surrounding you on all sides, drawing you into whatever you’re watching or listening to.
X-Balanced Speaker
The speakers are carefully shaped to maximise the richness of sound. The large diaphragm area means improved bass and reduced driver excursion, which leads to less distortion and greater vocal clarity.
There are up-firing speakers that bounce the sound off your ceiling for the most immersive overhead audio possible. There are also wide-angle woofers for powerful bass, and soft dome tweeters for detailed mids and highs.

In line with Sony’s 2021 Home Theatre system, the HT-A9 features the “Omnidirectional block” design concept. With its carefully crafted combination of materials and rounded edges, the sound spreads out wide and evenly, so you are less constrained by the placement of your speakers.

Easy connectivity
Connect your home cinema system easily using WiFi or Bluetooth, and stream music using Apple Airplay 2 or Google Chromecast. You can also easily plug in the central unit to your TV or console using HDMI. And the speakers all connect and set up on their own wirelessly.
Link up the Sony HT-A9 to your BRAVIA TV and control your speakers using the TV remote – the Home Theatre Settings will automatically appear in the quick menu. And if you need a little more bass, the system is ready for an additional subwoofer, like the Sony SA-SW3 or SA-SW5.
